A few weeks ago I ran a couple of workshops at Banks Mill Derby. I really enjoyed myself and it felt as though the ladies who came along also had a good time being creative.

On the first morning we made fabric flower brooches and kilt pin brooches. The instructions for making these can be found on the Angel Eden Blog but it is always more fun to make things in a group and to be able to bounce ideas off others!

Here are some pictures of some of the completed brooches.

Here are some more.

Here are a few of the Kilt Pins.

The second workshop was making bracelets from small beads. The bracelets looked like a string of small flowers to go around your wrist. Once the pattern is learnt it can be adapted in many ways to make necklaces, earrings and rings.

Here are a few picturse from these workshops.

I am now making plans for some more workshops and have decided that the first will be another beading workshop. It will be to learn the beading stitch known as peyote stitch. This stitch can be used to make numerous items but I am going to start with a bracelet. Once the stitch has been learnt it can be used to make earrings, necklaces, rings, brooches, beads and larger items such as beaded bags.

Here are some pictures of some simple peyote stitch bracelets.

This picture shows part of a peyote bracelet embellished with garnet chips and fresh water pearls.

The workshops will last for two hours and will include everything needed to make a bracelet. There will also be tea/coffee and homemade biscuits. Each workshop will cost £15.00 and will be held at Network House, Nun Street, Derby, DE1 3LP

The next workshop will be on 10/08/11 from 10.00-12.00
