Date added: 21-06-2011 Seed Heads

I love to go for walks in the countryside and have really noticed an abundance of wild flowers this year. Last week I took lots of photos at the National Stone Centre in Derbyshire. I counted at least 16 different flowers in a very small area.

This week as I walked along the Cromford Canal I decided to take pictures of seed heads. There is a lot of beauty in the patterns made once a flower has died and the seeds are ready to be distributed.

This is a dandelion, one of the few that I knew the name of! The next picture is of a similar seed head but a much bigger one on a much taller stem. I have no idea which plant it is from.

Here are some more seed heads, I think there is a beauty in each one.

I think this could be one of those annoying plants that sticks to you as you brush past it, however on its own it makes a lovely shape.

Thes are the seeds of the dog rose one of my favourite plants.

Lastly I just loved the shape of these plants with the canal in the background.
