'You bet it can. Anne Clark, 59, of Belper, Derbyshire, is a civil servant who retires next year. She can’t wait. Already, she is one of a growing band of what Jones calls the “five-to-niners”, people whose real business life starts when they get home from the day job.

Five years ago, her daughter couldn’t find the jewellery she wanted for her wedding, so Clark had a go at the kitchen table, with silver wire and semiprecious stones. After two years of evening classes, she now makes silver jewellery until late at night, and all weekend. She runs a website (angeleden.co.uk), she blogs, she tweets. “I can’t help making it, so I’ve got to sell it,” she says. She has taken over the garage for the messy, lively bits with a polishing wheel and blowtorch.

Next year, she will be free to work day and night. “I’ve got so many ideas,” she says. “It would be nice to earn half what I’m earning now.”

For Clark, as for many, retirement means a second chance. She will have the time to do what she’s always wanted to do, and she’ll be doing it at home.'

Bee and Flower earrings

Bzzzzzzzzzz!
How charming are these bee and flower earrings for £26? They're from Angel Eden, and they're sterling silver. I had a good hunt on the whole site and there are so many dazzling silver items, like this garden shed necklace and these festive looking gingerbread earrings.

Anne from Angel Eden contacted me last week and I was happy to feature her products after a few of her items caught my eye. You can visit her shop here.
