Jewellery Care
Silver jewellery will tarnish and eventually need cleaning. There are several different ways you can do this, one way is to use silver dip but you must not leave it in for too long and afterwards it needs to be completely washed off.
Another way is to use a silver cloth, these can be bought from retail jewellers or Argos or Amazon. The blacker the cloth becomes, the better it seems to clean.
One way that I like to clean my jewellery does takes a little longer but it is gentle and does seem to work well for more delecate pieces. I line a glass bowl with silver foil and then pour in hot steamy water. To this I add both salt and baking powder, about 2 table spoons of each. The jewellery is then put into the solution so that it is resting on the foil and the pieces are touching each other. You then wait and watch and the jewellery will become clean which can take a few minutes. Once clean give it a rinse and dry with a soft cloth. It is a very gentle non toxic way to clean.
It is important to look after your jewellery and remove it before doing housework or gardening and keep away from creams, lotions and perfumes.
